# Export audiences

## Overview

In this destination service, DinMo keeps an ActiveCampaign contact list synchronized with a DinMo segment.

* Contacts entering your segment are created or updated and subscribed to the selected list.
* Previously synchronized contacts leaving your segment are unsubscribed from that list.
* Their contact profiles remain in ActiveCampaign.

To get started:

* Create an ActiveCampaign audience destination. Refer to the [Destination setup section](#destination-setup).
* Create a user segment containing the contacts to include. Refer to our [step-by-step tutorial](/guides/get-started-with-dinmo/create-and-activate-segments-on-dinmo/create-your-first-segment.md).
* Activate the segment to the destination to start sending data.

## Destination setup

Create a destination using your [ActiveCampaign connection](/integrations/destination-platforms/active-campaign.md#authentication-to-activecampaign) and select the **Export audiences** destination service.

The destination stores the reusable connection details. It is not tied to a specific list or contact tag: you choose the audience target separately for each activation.

{% endhint %}

## Activation configuration

Once your destination and segment are ready, create an activation.

Under **Audience target**, choose:

* **List only** to synchronize membership with one ActiveCampaign list.
* **List and contact tag** to synchronize the same contacts with both a list and a tag.

At least one audience target is required.

{% endhint %}

### Select or create a list

Select an existing ActiveCampaign list or create a new one for this activation.

For a new list, provide:

| Setting         | Description                                            |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| List name | Name of the list to create in ActiveCampaign. |
| Sender URL | Website URL associated with the list. |
| Sender reminder | Explanation of why contacts are receiving your emails. |

When you choose **List and contact tag**, configure the contact tag in the same activation. See [Synchronize contact tags](/integrations/destination-platforms/active-campaign/synchronize-contact-tags.md) for the tag behavior.

### Fields mapping

Map **Email** as the required contact identifier.

You can also map the following standard contact fields:

* First name
* Last name
* Phone

These fields are sent when contacts are processed for addition to the audience.

Use [Synchronize contact attributes](/integrations/destination-platforms/active-campaign/synchronize-contact-attributes.md) to keep standard and custom profile attributes updated independently of audience membership.

### List membership

DinMo manages membership changes for contacts tracked by the activation.

It does not clear the destination list before synchronizing. Existing list members outside the activation's synchronization history remain unchanged.

Leaving the segment unsubscribes the contact from the selected list; it does not delete the contact.

{% hint style="warning" %}
If DinMo detects that a contact already has an inactive membership in the selected list, it reports a row error instead of resubscribing that contact.

This also applies when a previously unsubscribed contact re-enters the source segment.
{% endhint %}

### Scheduling

Choose how often DinMo should update your list.

Each incremental synchronization applies the segment membership changes detected since the previous run. A full run processes all current source contacts and handles departures recorded in the activation's synchronization history.

### Troubleshooting

If a contact is not synchronized, check that:

* The source record contains a valid email address.
* The selected list still exists.
* The contact does not already have an inactive membership in that list.

Refer to [Troubleshooting Syncs](/activations/troubleshooting-syncs.md) for help investigating failed records.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.dinmo.io/integrations/destination-platforms/active-campaign/export-audiences.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
